Terms of Service

Last updated: June 9, 2026

Welcome to thescoops

Scoops is a community events discovery app for Hawaii. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Who can use Scoops

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • You agree to provide accurate information when signing up.
  • One account per person. Don't create duplicate accounts to evade limits or moderation.

What you can post

You can post real, public-interest community events: garage sales, farmers markets, concerts, food trucks, fitness classes, community help, and similar gatherings. You retain ownership of what you post, but grant Scoops a license to display, distribute, and store it as part of the service.

This includes community photosyou add to an event. By uploading a photo you confirm that you took it or otherwise have the right to share it, and you grant Scoops the same license to display it. Don't upload photos you don't have rights to. We scan uploads automatically and will remove any photo on a valid request from the rights holder (see Copyright and DMCA below).

You may not post:

  • Sexually explicit content, nudity, or content sexualizing minors.
  • Hateful, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory content.
  • Spam, scams, fake events, or commercial advertisements unrelated to local community events.
  • Content that infringes others' copyrights or trademarks.
  • Personal information of other people without their consent.
  • Content that promotes illegal activities, violence, or self-harm.

We use automated tools and human review to detect violations. Repeated violations may result in your account being suspended or banned. We may remove any content that violates these rules at our discretion.

Reports and moderation

If you see something that violates these rules, use the "Report" button on the post or message us. We review reports and take action when appropriate. Knowingly false reports may result in your own account being limited.

Copyright and DMCA

We respect intellectual property rights and expect users to do the same. Don't post photos, text, logos, or other content you don't own or have permission to use.

If you believe content on Scoops infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at kaikeamattos@gmail.com with the subject line "DMCA Notice." Your notice must include:

  • A description of the copyrighted work you say was infringed.
  • The exact location (a link or screenshot) of the content on Scoops.
  • Your name, address, email, and phone number.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

We will promptly review valid notices and remove or disable access to infringing content. If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. We terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.

Subscriptions and billing

Scoops offers a free plan and paid Business plans (Business Monthly, Business Yearly) intended for vendors, event organizers, and businesses. Paid plans give higher monthly post limits and longer event-planning windows.

  • Auto-renewal: monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
  • Cancellation: you can cancel any time. You keep paid features through the end of the period you've already paid for.
  • Refunds: subscriptions are non-refundable except where required by law (e.g., EU consumer protections).
  • Price changes: we may change prices. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days notice before any change takes effect.
  • App Store purchases: subscriptions purchased through the iOS App Store are billed by Apple, and you must cancel through your Apple ID account settings.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. You can delete your account permanently at any time from Profile → Delete account.

Events you attend

Scoops shows events posted by other community members. We do not verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy, safety, or legality of any event. You attend events at your own risk. Use common sense and check details before traveling.

Service availability

We work to keep Scoops running, but we make no guarantee of uptime. Features may change. We may pause or shut down the service at any time, with or without notice. If we shut down, we'll give you reasonable notice and a chance to export your data.

Disclaimer of warranties

Scoops is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent allowed by law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scoops and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $50 if you are a free user.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, USA, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts of Hawaii County.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the most recent change. Significant changes will be announced in-app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
